`
"Within New York City’s most elite families, there lurks a secret society of celebrated Americans whose ancestors sailed on the Mayflower. They are the powerful and the wealthy—and in fact, they are not human. They are the Blue Bloods, an ancient group of vampires.
Schuyler Van Alen has never fit in at Duchesne, her prestigious New York City private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes instead of the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates, and she lives with her reclusive grandmother in a dilapidated mansion. Schuyler is a loner—and happy that way.
But when she turns fifteen, Schuyler’s life changes dramatically. She has a mosaic of blue veins on her arms, and craves raw meat. The death of a popular girl from Duchesne is surrounded by a mystery that haunts her. And strangest off all, Jack Force, the most popular boy in school, is showing a sudden interest in her.
Schuyler wants to find out the secrets the Blue Bloods are keeping. But is she herself in danger?
Steeped in vampire lore and set against the glittery backdrop of New York City, Blue Bloods will be devoured by fans of Melissa de la Cruz. "
My review : At first I wasn't so excited to read this book. It was just when I bought several books when I actually wanted to read the book. Actually I read the first chapter of the book in a book store and I wasn't so impressed. Firstly because the book goes on in to paralel stories and they start mixing, so it becomes easily disturbing. Secondly, because the action was plane. Just some kids sneacking in a night club.
The story is placed in New York. Schuyler is a loner. She has only one friend called Oliver.
Throw in a guy who seems to be interested in her and a secret vampire society.
Then add some deaths in the world of those who never die.
A very strange discovery is made by Schuyler and her friends.
The fact that the blue bloods continue to live among the red bloods reincarnating and that their memories are kept in their blood was a great idea that I really enjoyed. I also liked the idea of the vampires actually being fallen angels and the archangels that decided to come on earth by their own decision. The person that Schuyler thought was her father who visited Allegra, her mother turned out to be someone else.
At the third part of the book, Oliver drops a small bomb that I didn't expect.
I also liked the fact thet the whole story is based on some real events. The whole book spins round the word "croatan" wich was actually foud on a tree when the Roanoke dissapeared.
At the end I realised that it was one of the books that I really liked because of the plot and the multitude of twists.I hardly find a book that has these characteristics.
Conclusion: A good book indeed. A book that can be hard to read at first but which becomes interesting just after a few chapters.
